Tony Robbins: a full-house production where the network could not blink

A high-energy, multi-day live-production seminar with a packed house, immersive show control, registration at scale, and onsite payments. LGL Networks ran the mission-critical network as one accountable operator, setup to teardown.

Context

Tony Robbins’s organization staged a large, multi-day live-production seminar — a continuous, high-intensity production: lighting, audio, video, and show-control cues run for hours, while registration, merchandise, and payments operate alongside a packed house.

LGL Networks operated the event’s mission-critical network as a segmented Critical Operations Network overlay, behind the venue circuit — supplementing it where permitted and never bypassing venue exclusivity.

Challenge

Scale and intensity multiply the stakes:

  • Show control that cannot drop. In a fully produced seminar, a network interruption to show control, media playback, or encoders is felt instantly by a packed room.
  • Registration and payments at volume. Thousands of attendees checking in and transacting put sustained load on the systems that drive revenue and the door experience.
  • Many vendors, no single owner. Production, registration, merchandise payments, staff, and the venue were each accountable for their own slice — and no one for the network as a whole.
  • High RF and density environment. A full house generates heavy wireless contention, making wired-first design essential for the critical paths.

Approach

We followed the standard LGL motion — Risk Assessment, written venue authorization, Critical Operations Overlay, monitored through teardown.

Segmented overlay, wired-first

We deployed a segmented LAN with wired drops for the event- and revenue-critical systems — show control and encoders, registration, merchandise payments, production, and staff operations — wired first to keep critical paths off contended RF. Our documented segmentation standard isolated production, registration, payment, attendee, contractor, and management traffic into distinct zones.

Connectivity resilience

Where venue policy permitted, we ran dual-WAN with defined failover; otherwise an approved single underlay with a documented failover plan and target window. LGL procures dedicated, redundant upstream circuits rather than reselling commodity bandwidth.

Pre-opening acceptance + failover testing

Before go-live, we ran the documented pre-opening acceptance test — verifying segmentation held under projected density, WAN failover landed inside its target window, critical-system redundancy was live, and monitoring was reporting. Show-control and payment paths were validated under load.

Onsite engineering + NOC monitoring

An onsite network lead owned floor incident response across long event days, backed by remote NOC monitoring from setup through teardown.

Outcome

The engagement closed with a post-event report documenting acceptance-test results, incidents and time-to-failover, and segmentation integrity. The measured results for this event — acceptance-test outcome, incident count, failover times, and show-control and payment network availability across event days — are documented in the client’s post-event report.
